News

In birding, news is old before the bird has flown. Those chasing a rarity need to know precise information about where, how, who, and, most importantly, when a bird has been last seen. This is precisely why we created birdthebend blog, and tool that allows us to use the most current social networking and micro-blogging services (Twitter, for example) to stay on top of the most recent sightings.

In times past birders relied on telephone trees and tape-recorded messages to alert people to the rare birds being seen in an area. No more. The web is the way to go, and Bird the Bend will continue to work on different ways to get the work out. At this moment we suggest emailing your sightings, entering them into eBird (which will show on both the web and blog), or sending us a real-time Tweet!

However, not all news is hot. We will post an array of notices, press releases, and alerts on this page that do not have the time imperative of a rare bird.
