The distinct and ancient angling practice of fly fishing is big and getting bigger in the Coastal Bend. It’s mostly about sightcasting to the mighty redfish, a powerful fighter that abounds in our clear shallow flats.

From north of Rockport to the protected backside of Mustang Island to the remote Nine-Mile Hole flats of the Upper Laguna Madre, it’s easy to find ideal redfish habitat within reach of Corpus Christi. It’s not uncommon to see dozens of tailing redfish and dozens more in schools or alone while drifting, poling or paddling in our clear, remote seagrass flats. For those who would prefer to narrow their search, the Coastal Bend is home to some of the best fly-guides anywhere. Or perhaps you’d prefer the convenient solitude of the Lighthouse Lakes Paddling Trails in nearby Aransas Pass.
