  • Shallow Water Fishing: Fish along the bats and shores to catch speckled trout, red fish, whiting, drum, and flounder.
  • Deep Water Fishing: Fish off shore from Port Aransas to Rockport – whether in a private boat or on a chartered fishing trip, sport fisherman can fish for amberjack, red snapper, and tuna all year long. From May to September, fish for marlin and bill fish.
  • Fresh Water Fishing: Lake Corpus Christi is located just 40 miles northwest of Corpus Christi in Mathis, and features 200 miles of shore with excellent fishing for bass, catfish, and crappie.

The Gulf of Mexico is known for excellent saltwater fishing because of its unique geological shape that hosts an enormous number of warm-water fish species, sharks, sting rays, and sea turtles. For sport fishermen who take their fishing sport very seriously, Redfish trophy fishing tournaments and deep sea fishing tournaments are offered several times a year in Corpus Christi and surrounding areas.
