Kaufer-Hubert Park

One of Kleberg County's finest parks, Kaufer-Bubert Memorial Park, offers a playground area for children with various swing sets and slides along with several barbecue grills and picnic tables near shady mesquite trees.  The 500 foot fishing pier on Baffin Bay, boat launching and camping draw many visitors year round.

Another opportunity offered by this park that is located southeast of Kingsville is the large number of waders, waterfowl and shorebirds.  From fall into spring the bay will have flocks of pelicans, ducks, gulls and terns.  Right at the entrance of the park, search the wetlands and mudflats at the mouth of Vattmann Creek for herons, egrets and shorebirds.  Wilson's Plover nest are commonly found here, Semipalmated, Snowy and Piping occur in winter and species such as Stilt, Pectoral and White-rumped sandpipers may appear in spring.  Ponts inside the park may contain flocks of waterfowl (Greater Scaup, Black Scoter and Surf Scoter) and look in the brushy areas  around the park for Common Ground-Dove, Green Jay and Olive Sparrow.
