Mission-Aransas National Estuarine Research Reserve Headquarters and Lab
Funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and managed by and located at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute, the 186,189-acre beachside Reserve is one of 28 "living laboratories" around the country dedicated to studying and educating people about coastal ecosystems. The on-site, hands-on (and free and open to the public!) Wetlands Education Center and Estuary Explorium encourage visitors to get up-close and witness the work scientists are doing to preserve the coast for generations to come.
