Malaquite Visitor Center
Welcome to the visitor center for the entire Padre Island National Seashore, a part of the U.S. National Park Service. Stop here to begin your adventure exploring the longest stretch of undeveloped barrier island on the planet – or check in here before a day at one of Texas' most beloved beaches. Cars are not allowed on this pristine beach, but there is ample and convenient parking. The center is made up of a covered deck, two viewing platforms, an auditorium, museum, bookstore, and gift shop. Personal hygiene and sun care products are sold, but ice, food, firewood and fishing licenses are not, so come prepared! The visitor center holds a number of educational programs and is the place to sign up to witness annual turtle releases and to register for overnight camping.
