Tour Travel Tips

While You Are Here:

What to Wear

Dress casually, with an emphasis on comfort. Few restaurants require jackets and ties for dining, so throughout the year, just about anything goes. Jeans, beach, and western wear are always in style. During our summer months, shorts and sandals are the uniform of the day, and in the cooler months, leave your snow clothes behind. Instead, pack a sweater or light jacket for the evenings. One thing you should certainly pack during the summer months is your swimsuit and some sunscreen.

Take a Ride on the 'B'

When visiting downtown Corpus Christi, take a ride on the 'B,' Corpus Christi's public transportation. The B-Trolley provides a great way to get around the city's downtown attractions, hotels and restaurants. Keep your eye on the 'B' signs for the Trolley route, where you'll see the Trolley roll by every 10 to 20 minutes.

A Few Tips on Tipping

Tipping for restaurant service is usually at least 15 percent of the total bill (gratuities are not usually automatically added to your bill). Taxi drivers are tipped 15 percent of the fare. Bellhops receive $1 to $2 per bag to carry your luggage to your room. Airport skycaps are tipped 50 cents per bag (with a $1 minimum).

Alcoholic Beverages
You must be 21 years or older to purchase or drink alcoholic beverages or cocktails in Texas. Liquor is not sold between 12 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sundays. Alcohol by the drink can be found in cocktail lounges, nightclubs and most restaurants, although some establishments serve only beer and wine. Packaged liquor can be purchased at liquor stores, supermarkets (beer and wine) and major drug stores (beer and wine).
