10 Shows in Tune With Spring Break

1. Jimmy Eat World at Brewster Street Ice House, March 12

2. Spring Break on the Coast: Randy Rogers Band and Cody Johnson Band at Concrete Street Amphitheater, March 19
Spring Break 2017's biggest ticket is at Concrete Street Amphitheater as Texas country boys Randy Rogers and Cody Johnson co-headline what’s becoming an annual tradition. Openers Kevin Fowler and Parker McCollum will get the crowd all good and loose in the early slots.
3. Katy Guillen & the Girls at Vino Mio Social Club, March 18
Let the smoky vocals and foot-stompin' roots rock of Kansas City homegirls Katy Guillen & the Girls – once aptly described as "rock like a cradle in a tropical hurricane" – knock you out and pick you right back up again for a night to remember at Vino Mio Social Club.
4. Frankie Ballard at Brewster Street Ice House, March 16
Young country-rock crooner Frankie Ballard is shakin' up the Nashville scene with some hooooo-doggy roots music that'll make you want to take the "El Camino" to the casino and slick back your hair in support of his 2016 album, El Rio.
5. St. Patty's Day Celebration and Branded on the Veranda at Schlitterbahn, March 17-18
A waterslide, some corned beef and thou! What a way to put the luck of the Irish into your shebang! Get your shillelagh to Schlitterbahn Corpus Christi for the annual St. Patrick’s Day party on Friday, featuring the Rockoholics on the Veranda Patio, corned beef & cabbage plates, green beer, happy hour drink and appetizer specials, and plenty o’ St. Patty’s giveaways. Then stick around as the fun rolls into Saturday with Branded on deck – literally.
6. Pacific Dub/Tatanka/Tunnel Vision at House of Rock, March 11
Beach, meet beach! Surf, reggae, ska and dub comes to Corpus Christi’s House of Rock straight from the American West, featuring Southern California’s Tunnel Vision, Colorado’s Tatanka and Huntington Beach, Cali pop-rock headliners Pacific Dub.
7. Sand Jam: Russ at Concrete Street Amphitheater, March 12
Concrete Street expects to sell out this Spring Break kick off jam with soulful chill master/rap blaster, Atlanta man Russ Vitale, known simply by his single-name star moniker to fans across the world as Russ.
8. The Blind Owls at Vino Mio Social Club, March 10
Okay, this one is for you Spring Break early birds who give a hoot. Local heroes The Blind Owls blast out of Corpus Christi in one last gig before hitting the road to share their mod, Sixties British Invasion-style originals on the SXSW crowds up in Austin.
9. Clarissa Serna at Rockit’s, March 17
Come listen to the powerful pipes of Corpus Christi’s own Clarissa Serna, Season 6 contestant on NBC’s The Voice (Team Shakira!). When Clarissa is not out on tour, she plays some regular Coastal Bend gigs, including First Friday Art Rock events at Rockit’s and on Tuesdays, karaoke host at Katz’s 21 Steaks & Spirits on the Southside.
10. St. Paddy’s Festival and Block Party, March 17-18
Pace yourself! Corpus Christi does up St. Patrick’s Day in a big way with the annual St. Paddy's Festival in the 300 block of People’s Street at Cassidy’s Irish Pub. It’s a marathon not a sprint, with over 20 musical acts, including C.C. Irish Sessions Band, Water’s Edge Pipe & Drums and headliners Swimming With Bears and The Blaggards in a massive downtown block party in the Marina Arts District that will have you knackered unless you follow our advice: One beer at a time!
