Join in on the first ever 1/2K by the Bay Beer Run! You heard it right, this is a .5K race you run (or walk) while holding a pint of beer! The main goal is to finish as quickly as possible while keeping the beer above the line on the official running cup. All participants will receive an official running cup, their choice of local craft beers (1 running and 1 reward), a bottle opener participation medal, tokens for free beer AND two Saturday admisission wristbands into Arts Alive. This fun event will kick off Arts Alive on Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. To find out more in this event and to register, go here!

The Art of Dance

Watch performances by the Island Dance Company. Experience talented performers right before your eyes and become inspired by the story they tell. Performances will take place on both Saturday and Sunday during the event. Also see Teresa Saldivar and Team Dance performing a Coco Inspired Ballet Folklorico contemporary dance.

The Art of Ceramics

Watch a special pottery glazing technique live in action! Raku firing is one of the most exciting processes in ceramics. After you place your pottery into a raku kiln (or in this case, a trash can on fire), the anticipation builds as you wait for that final moment when the intense heat begins to melt the raku glazes. See this process for yourself at Arts Alive. Firing sessions AND wheel throwing will be demonstrated throughout the duration of the festival.

The Art of Steamroll Printing

Ever heard of a steamroller making art? Watch this massive machine create beautiful artwork. The steam roller presses onto a block of wood to create wood block printing. You can check out the wood blocks being carved indoors, before going under the steamroller!

The Art of Music

What's a festival without some music? Catch some good vibes outside at the Fountain Park through the tunes of musical artists. Two-time winner of Nashville Industry Awards Blues Artist of the Year (2017, 2016), Tim Gonzalez will perform in the park at Arts Alive Labor Day weekend festival at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Also enjoy local live music throughout the day on both Saturday and Sunday.

The Art of Food

Recently, food has become more and more creative. It is not only a substance to sustain you, but an artistic experience to take pictures of, talk about and enjoy. The food truck culture here in Corpus Christi does not shy away from creating the best product. Arts Alive has selected some of the best food trucks from around the Coastal Bend. Food Trucks at Arts Alive: Taco Bar Street, Papa's Lumpia Hut, Jaycob's Delicious Fishes, Lala's Crepes, Rainbow Snoball and Fulton Kettle Corn. So you can indulge in art not only for your eyes, but for your mouth.

BONUS: There will also be craft beers from these local breweries: Lorelei Brewery, Lazy Beach Brewing, Rebel Toad and B&J's!

The Art of Community

Community art projects are such an amazing display of people collaborating and coming together to make something beautiful. This year you can take part in creating a new mosaic bench that will live at the Art Center after the festival. Join in and use a wooden spoon to hand print your own piece of take home art. Rub the spoon on the wood block murals for fun ink transfers! (see image above)

The Art of Family

Get your hands dirty with art projects! The art and creativity zone will offer endless amounts of projects throughout the day. Get creative with different art activities like shell painting, sugar skull masks, tie dye coffee filters, birdhouses and SO. MUCH. MORE. Check it all out in the beautiful Outside Courtyard at the Art Center!
