Discover a pot of gold at the St. Patrick’s Block Festival
Cassidy’s 6th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Block Festival features two days of celebrating the patron saint of Ireland in the heart of downtown Corpus Christi.
The fun starts Friday evening for the more mature lads and lassies looking to celebrate the official holiday with libations and live music from five acts, including a pipes and drum band, Celtic dance troupe and the Scarecrow People headlining the night. Gates open at 5 p.m.
The festivities continue Saturday beginning at noon. Little leprechauns will enjoy the shenanigans of the new kids area with inflatables, rock climbing walls, face painting and more. Treasured souvenir gems can be found browsing through local arts and crafts booths while enjoying the traditional sounds of Ireland on one of the four stages.
Of course it wouldn’t be St. Patrick’s Day without a cold, frothy mug to raise in an Irish toast. Slainte! Multiple bars in the block festival will offer an array of beers including the Irish staple Guinness, as well as a large array of craft brews. Cassidy’s Irish Pub also will be open during the event serving a full bar selection. No celebration is complete without an abundance of amazing food. Many food trucks will offer dishes from Irish-inspired cuisine to traditional menu items, all guaranteed to pair perfectly with your beverage of choice.
Saturday night the crowds become an endless sea of green. It’s custom to wear beads, funky hats and all kinds of green inspired attire. Unless you want to get pinched, don’t say we didn’t warn you. The party kicks up to close out the celebration with Austin-based Irish rock bands, The Blaggards and headliners, Swimming with Bears.
