Attention mule mavens: If you’re in the mood for a festive mule that will lift your spirits, Corpus Christi has got you covered. There’s plenty of holiday cheer to go around, served up in a shiny copper mug to keep your drink chilled all evening! Check out this list of places serving up that winter concoction of something sweet and spicy served over ice!
Don’t let the name fool you. A “Burro Boracho” (aka Mexican Mule) is an elegant twist on the classic Moscow mule. This will be the priciest mule on the Post menu at $12, but well worth it. Made with ultra-premium Casamigos silver tequila, created by actor George Clooney, ginger beer and lime juice are poured over hand-crushed ice and garnished with a slice of lime. This light, refreshing drink combines well with the Three Little Piggies smoked pork shank, Prosciutto Flatbread or the crispy Brussel Sprouts.
Also try: The Summer Mule with flavors of blackberry and mint, the Texas mule made with Tito’s Handmade Vodka, the Kentucky Mule featuring Old Forester 1920 Pre-Prohibition Style Bourbon and the “Gin Gin” mule with Dripping Springs Artisan Gin.
If you prefer a sweeter concoction, then trek over to the city’s Southside to sample fruit-inspired mules. The Moscow melon mule takes on the vibrant flavors of the green Midori Melon Liqueur. And the blue raspberry mule, made with four to six muddled blueberries and topped with Crabbie’s Scottish raspberry ginger beer, will be a refreshing treat. Both are $12. If you’re hungry, order Asian-style pot stickers to complement the lime and ginger in the drinks and other savory appetizers such as salt and pepper shrimp and the Point Judith calamari with roasted cashews and sautéed vegetables.

Fortunately, you won’t have to travel far for a fresh Peruvian mule. The owners of Costa Sur, who are from Lima, Peru, created their version from their home country’s national drink made with Pisco Sour brandy. Drinks including the Sugar Island Mule made from Sugar Island Coconut Rum are on rotation and a new shot/mule menu is in the works. All mule cocktails are made with ginger beer, but a splash of various ciders, including apple, pineapple, pear or pomegranate, is added for extra pizzazz. Looking for food? Spicy dishes such as fish tacos and ceviche, all prepared with fresh Gulf seafood, pair perfectly with these mule drinks.
