5 Places to Volunteer in Corpus Christi

by Visit Corpus Christi Texas

For those who take pride in giving back to their community, Corpus Christi is the place to visit! We have plenty of options to choose from where you can support different causes that will benefit those in need. Let’s make the world a better place one day at a time… with your help, of course!

Below, you’ll find five places you can volunteer during your stay in the Coastal Bend.

GLO Beach

GLO Beach is a moniker for the Texas General Land Office’s beach cleanup efforts. More than 528,000 volunteers have removed 9,600 tons of trash from Texas beaches over the last 30 years. The program strives to raise public awareness, educate citizens about the source of debris and generate public support for state, national and international action to clean up coastal waters.

You can register for the next cleanup online.

Hazel Bazemore County Park Cleanups

Volunteer at the Hazel Bazemore Park to clean up trash, paint restrooms and stain stairs in addition to planting trees. Supplies, food and drinks are provided by event sponsor HEB. Don’t forget that the group with the most trash collected will receive a prize!

The official date is to be determined in early 2019.

Padre Island National Seashore

Turtle Release 1

We all love our sea turtles, so make an impact in making sure they’re protected! Volunteers are an important part of the National Park Service and help fulfill their mission and goals for conservation. During turtle nesting season, you can volunteer to assist in turtle patrol efforts – which protect and tend to the needs to one of Corpus Christi’s most beloved aquatic species. Also can volunteer in the visitor center, bird-watching tours, cleanup efforts and more.

Habitat for Humanity

Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity’s home preservation services! Why? You can assist in repair services to homeowners so they can continue to live in safe, decent homes for years to come. Some of the work you’d be doing includes painting, landscaping, weatherization and minor repair services to preserve home exteriors and revitalize neighborhoods. Make a difference in the lives of others!

Hawkwatch International

Looking to get involved in the non-profit sector? Then HawkWatch International is the place for you. It’s a non-profit organization that works to protect hawks through scientific research and public education. You can volunteer to assist in standardized counts at Hazel Bazemore County Park
