Spring Break Brewery Tour
Corpus Christi has fast become home to popular local breweries across the city. Take a day to hit all these spots and sample beers designed for living along the Gulf Coast. Don’t have an entire day? All you need is a couple of hours to chill at one of these establishments.
P.S. – Don’t forget to take home some nifty souvenirs (growlers, T-shirts and glasses).
Down the street from the American Bank Center, you’ll find the Railroad Seafood Station Brewing Co. Ask for the Cerveza de la Flor, a pilsner infused with hibiscus and chamomile named in honor of Selena, the Queen of Tejano music. Choose from 10 beers on tap including Honey Wheat Ale and the lightest beer, the Desperado Pilsner. Come hungry – there’s a full menu. Pair the top-selling Texas Red, said to leave a nuttiness on the palate, with grilled fish tacos topped with cabbage, diced tomato, avocado and special sauce.
Located in downtown’s Marina Arts district, visitors can sample “craft beer with an attitude” and admire the work of up-and-coming local artists each month. Try the Rebel Blonde Golden Ale, a delicate malt with a hint of passionfruit, the Angry Man Porter and the fan favorite, Evil Little Soul Belgian Tripel. On St. Patty’s Day, Rebel Toad will unveil the Irish Jig with nutty and toffee notes, and the Russian Imperial Stout. Grab koozies and stickers, jersey-style shirts for men and women and insulated growlers. Visit again from May-June for the Electric Pepino (Cucumber) Ale.
On your way to the beach, stop in at Lorelei Brewing Co. in Flour Bluff to experience a refreshing selection of eight to 10 craft beers in the taproom, served in a welcoming, laid-back atmosphere. This spring, don’t miss the Belgian Honeypot (10.5% ABV), Rosco Red Irish Red Ale and The Dude Russian Imperial Coffee Milk Stout, as well as Sandy Crack Blonde Ale, Commission IPA, Seeing Double IPA and a Czech Pilsner offered year-round. Another plus? Expect to find three to four seasonal beers and one off-brew style.

When a creative craft beer selection (Kombucha probiotic, Mexican hot chocolate milk stout) meets a relaxing vibe and acoustic jams, you’ve landed at Lazy Beach. There are no TVs, so come make new friends in the large outdoor area. Top sellers include new features and the Texas Bock, a lighter version of the German version created with the Texas heat in mind. Also, the Beach in Wheat Bavarian style Hefeweizen is a must try. In March, be on the lookout for The Kook, a cucumber and saison beer, and other refreshing combinations.

When you’re on the Southside, stop in for delicious sandwiches, wings, pizza and four in-house brewed beers – you’ll always find the signature B&J’s 2 x 4 Blonde Ale and the Hairy Porter – along with 25 rotating draft beers and more than 100 bottled beers. Celebrate St. Patty’s Day with green beer and Guinness deals. Pressed for time? Stop by B&J's Pizza - The Original off of S. Padre Island Drive on your way back from the beach, now serving two signature in-house brews offered at the Brew Pub.
Bonus: About 75 miles away from Corpus Christi is the Goliad Brewing Company. This family-owned brewery offers some fantastic craft beers including the Presidio La Bahia Black Hefeweizen and the Watermelon Gose Ale. Plan ahead: This brewery, open only on Saturdays, is worth the drive.
