It’s summertime and the livin’ is easy in Corpus Christi. Seasonal events in this coastal town are only available for a few months, so take advantage of them while they’re here because spending time outdoors in Corpus Christi is a summertime pleasure.

ArtWalk Block Parties

Coast down to the first Friday of each month for an ArtWalk Block Party in Downtown Corpus Christi. Walk around Artesian Park and enjoy all things creative including local pop-up vendors, live music, and art galleries. Don’t forget to grab some delicious food from local food truck vendors and swing by the Visitor Information Center for themed festivities and giveaways. The event also will feature programming at some of downtown's most loved businesses, shops, and restaurants, including House of Rock, BUS, Executive Surf Club, and Rockit's. The block party runs from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm and is free of charge.

Bay Jammin’ Concert and Cinema Series

Grab your lawn chairs and blankets and head to Cole Park for some music and movies, free of charge. Every week, from June to August, the Bay Jammin’ Concert and Cinema Series offers a Thursday night concert and a Friday night movie. The concerts will feature a variety of genres including rock, country, and blues, and the films will be family-friendly and closed-captioned in genres of action, adventure, and comedy. While you’re in town, plan to attend one of these fantastic evening events and get to know Corpus Christi locals while relaxing on the great lawn.

Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle Release

Nothing demonstrates the beauty of mother nature more than watching dozens of baby sea turtles enter the surf of the Gulf of Mexico. The Padre Island National Seashore is home to approximately 60% of the Kemp’s Ridley nests found in the United States, with most hatchling releases taking place between May and August. The release dates vary as nesting dates are unpredictable, but if you’re visiting Corpus Christi in the summer months, the chances are high that you’ll be able to attend one of nature’s coolest, most unique Corpus Christi experiences.

Get the latest information on releases, locations, and times by calling (361) 949-7163. Loving the turtles and want more? Head to the Texas State Aquarium and watch the sea turtle species native to the Gulf of Mexico swim around in the lagoon-like habitat at Tortuga Cay. Learn about the importance of saving these endangered species and then walk over to the Wildlife Rescue Center and witness the treatment and rehabilitation of sea turtles and other wildlife. At the Texas Sealife Center, you can also catch a glimpse of the nature trail and see the sea turtle patients currently in care while learning their stories.
