Where to GoThe Coastal Bend is dotted with kayaking trails, both for freshwater, salt water, bay paddling and kayak fishing. For Salt Water Kayaking many head to the sandy shores of the Padre Island National Seashore, which boasts the longest stretch of a protected barrier reef in the nation at more than 120 miles. Others choose the other Gulf beaches located on Upper Padre Island. Bay Paddling trails are plentiful with many enjoying the Corpus Christi Bay where they can launch from our two urban beaches, Corpus Christi Beach and McGee Beach, and cruise past the U.S.S. Lexington Museum on the Bay or the Texas State Aquarium. Fresh Water kayakers can choose from the Aransas, Mission or Nueces rivers and gaze at the wildlife on its shores, beneath its waters and above in the trees that shade the water. Salt Water Kayaking brings many to the Laguna Madre or Oso Bay where fish are plentiful and there is a diverse array. |
