Are you spending Independence Day in Corpus Christi? Get ready to coast your own way with endless opportunities to experience all the fun, here in the Gulf Coast Capital. There are many events that will be happening. Let us make your 4th of July experience in Corpus Christi one to remember!
Friday, July 2
Start your weekend at none other than Downtown Corpus Christi at the monthly Art Walk. Located in the heart of downtown, the Art Walk is a monthly event that takes place to encourage vendors and businesses to make downtown come alive. This month however is the grand kick-off for Art Walk block parties. You can head out to Lomax Street and People’s Street on July 2nd from 5:30 pm-9 pm to enjoy live music, curated markets, food, and more! In addition, at 7:30 pm the Downtown Management District will hold a Chaparral Tree Lighting Ceremony during the Art Walk on Chaparral St.
Looking for fun and a perfect sunset view by the water? One of Corpus Christi's hottest bands, Flying Free covers a wide variety of music genres and they will be at Sunset Island! You can head out there for a night of music, volleyball, deck games, great food and drinks from Snoppy’s Pier, and don’t forget dessert from Scoopy’s! The night is young when you’re on island time!
The Mayor, in partnership with the Downtown Management District and Corpus Christi Medical Center, will light approximately 100 trees on Chaparral Street. This will beautify the area and increase safety for residents and visitors alike! View the tree lighting ceremony at 6:45 pm on Lomax & Chaparral Street.
Saturday, July 3
Locals and visitors alike to join in on the fun July 3 from 5-9 pm on People St as PRODUCE brings local cinema and food to the downtown district. Everyone is welcome to bring blankets and ice chests for a shaded picnic-like experience on turd terrain provided for seating. A giant LED screen will be presented to showcase local short films and projects that highlight our cities importance.
The Point 4th of July Block Party
Live music, food and drink specials, and BBQ for sale? Sounds like a party we want to be at! Join in on all the fun on Saturday, July 3rd at 601 N Chaparral St from 11 am-9 pm. 10 hours to choose from to enjoy pure downtown fun!
Sunday, July 4
The 6th Annual Corpus Christi Food Truck Summerfest will be on Sunday, July 4, from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at The Water’s Edge Park, 402 S. Shoreline Boulevard. Various food trucks will offer excellent dishes and food creations for everyone to enjoy. Food and drink prices will vary. The Summerfest Family Fun Zone will provide live music, arts and crafts, a petting zoo, mini horses, and plenty of children’s activities!
Mayor’s Committee for Veterans Affairs Patriotic Ceremony
The Mayors Committee for Veterans Affairs’ Patriotic Ceremony will begin on Sunday, July 4, at 10:00 a.m. at Sherrill Veterans Memorial Park, 222 S. Shoreline Boulevard. The program will include a joint-service color guard from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. There will also be a live singing of the National Anthem, a performance by the Veterans Band of Corpus Christi, an unveiling of a Memorial Bench by the Downtown Lions Club, and a choir presentation from the Special Hearts in the Arts.
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a musical comedy with lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. The story is based on the "coat of many colours" story of Joseph from the Bible Book. Spectators can enjoy this musical live at The Harbor playhouse on July 4th from 2:30-4:00 p.m.
Celebrating Independence Day, 2021, general admission will be reduced by a fourth, for the 4th of July. (Reduced admission not online.) All NEW memberships, featuring 351 reciprocal gardens nationwide, also will be a fourth off July 4th. See the gardens, conservatories, trails, wetlands, kids play area with Monkey Mansion, plus weekend REP-TALES at 10:30 a.m.; and PARROT TALK at 1:30 p.m., wind/weather permitting. Our flowers and parrots both come in red, white and blue, too! Picnics and well-behaved leashed canines are welcome. Parking is free.
The Mayor’s Cup Regatta
Don’t miss the Mayor’s Cup Regatta, sponsored by the Corpus Christ Marina and Corpus Christi Yacht Club! The event will be on Saturday, July 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the south end of the Lawrence Street T-Head. Members of the Corpus Christi Yacht Club’s Junior Sailing Team and local boat owners and sailors will compete in the regatta. A total of 12, two-man boats will be racing, two at a time.
Free Entry at the Art Museum of South Texas
All within a walkable distance in downtown Corpus Christi, the Art Museum of South Texas Free for the Fourth Event is a must event to attend. The Mission of the South Texas Institute for the Arts, doing business as the Art Museum of South Texas, is to operate educational facilities and an art museum which advance the awareness, knowledge, appreciation, and enjoyment of the visual arts for residents and visitors of South Texas. This can be enjoyed at no cost this 4th of July from 1-5 pm.
Join Pepsi® and the Corpus Christi Museum of Science & History July 4th weekend from 10 am-5 pm for an action-packed, signature event filled with superhero fun for the whole family! Costumes are encouraged! Activities include DIY Superhero Accessories, Make Your Own Pepsi Float, Film Canister Rocket Activity, Superhero Photo-Op, and more! $10 for members, $15 for non-members, children 2 & Under Free.
Nueces Brewing BBQ Cookoff
Nothing says the 4th of July weekend like some cold beers and a Texas BBQ. Enjoy a delicious meal and a cook-off that will be taking place in the Nueces Brewing parking lot.
The Mayor’s Fourth of July Big Bang Fireworks Show by presenting sponsor H-E-B will begin on Sunday, July 4, at 9:30 p.m. at the Corpus Christi Bayfront. The show’s viewing will be available from North Beach to Cole Park and will last approximately 20 minutes. The Fireworks Show, choreographed by Pyrotecnico Fireworks, will be broadcast by official radio sponsor Malkan Broadcasting and official media sponsor KIII Channel 3 News. Attendees can tune in to 95.5 FM, 92.7 FM, or 1440 AM or live-stream the show online at kiiitv.com.
