The stories after a hurricane are almost always about the debris and broken buildings and power outages – it’s also stories about the people helping to restore the “normal.” It’s the hundreds of different electrical companies hired by AEP Texas to restore the power. It’s the FEMA workers trying to help those that need it. It’s the volunteers picking up debris and helping strangers. It’s also the strangers bringing hot food in trailers and barbeque pits. And it’s the national and regional companies offering assistance in any way possible.
Those are the people occupying hotel rooms in Corpus Christi. Hurricane Harvey has brought many storm workers and relief to the region, filling hotel rooms for the foreseeable future. In fact, hotel rooms are so full that many of those workers are sleeping on cots in hotel ballrooms.
