Mayor's 4th of July Big Bang Celebration
Are you spending Independence Day in Corpus Christi? Get ready for not one, not two, but five days of fun! That’s right, this year’s Mayor’s 4th of July Big Bang Celebration is from Wednesday, July 3 to Sunday, July 7th. There are so many activities happening, so we made a list of “can’t miss” events for each day.
Check out these Red, White, and Must-Dos for a full weekend of fun:
Spend the morning celebrating the Birdiest City in the U.S. at Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve and Nature Center. The “10 Birds You Can Know By Ear” Porch Talk starts at 9:30 am and is free to the public.
After spending the morning in Southside, head downtown from 5-8 pm to the Art Center of Corpus Christi for the Downtown Farmer’s Market.
Start your celebrations bright and early at 9 am for the Inaugural Fajitaville Patriot Paddle Out on North Beach honoring our military service members and their families.
Be sure you’re at Water’s Edge by 3 pm for a welcome from the Mayor and the National Anthem to kick off the Mayor’s Big Bang Celebration! Here’s an inside look at what’s going on in the afternoon:
- 3:00pm - 3:05pm – Welcome from Mayor/National Anthem
- 3:05pm - 3:20pm – Botanical Gardens, Reptile and Bird Show
- 3:25pm - 3:45pm – The Dream
- 3:50pm - 4:00pm – Lanky the Clown

- 6:00pm - The Mayor’s Big Bang Celebration Parade, presented by Flint Hills Resources
Get ready for the fireworks spectacular by celebrating the red, white, and blue with a fin-tastic view at the Texas State Aquarium, starting at 7:30 pm. The Mayor's Big Bang Celebration Fireworks, presented by H-E-B, will officially start at 9:30 pm, so don’t be late!
Take the morning to recoup from Thursday’s activities by grabbing some caffeine at a nearby coffee shop. Some local favorites are The Coffee MUGgle and Hester’s Cafe! Split your evening between Corpus Christi Food Truck Summerfest 2019 from 5-10 pm and Artwalk Dollar after Dark at Art Museum of South Texas happening 5:30 - 9 pm for an entertaining start to your weekend.
If you missed Oso Bay Wetlands’ event on Wednesday, you can check out their free "Wacky Wetland Adaptations" guided nature walk from 9 am - 10 am.
Nothing says “Saturday in the summer” quite like a farmer’s market! From 9 am to noon, head to Southside for their take on a Corpus Christi Farmers' Market.
You can’t visit Corpus Christi without going to a Hook’s game! Get to Whataburger Field before 6:15 pm to catch the Corpus Christi Hooks vs. Midland RockHounds.
Ease into your morning with Jazz Brunch at Eats Epicurea Restaurant and Bar happening from 10 am - 2 pm.
Then, say goodbye to any Sunday scaries by heading to Frida Fanatics Festival at Communitea from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm for an evening of fun.
